What has our research shown about support for breastfeeding in Bradford?
The Breastfeeding Support service, run by Health for All, has been the subject of an implementation evaluation with an in-depth qualitative component. Mothers who participated in the intervention, as well as practitioners who delivered it, spoke about their experiences of the service. Findings from this evaluation will be available in the autumn of 2023.
In addition to the qualitative evaluation, a quantitative evaluation is planned to understand the intervention’s impact on breastfeeding rates in the area. This evaluation is still in the planning stages and will likely be available in 2024.
What has our research shown about HENRY, support for healthy nutrition in childhood?
HENRY is an intervention that aims to support families to make positive, healthy changes to improve their nutrition and lifestyles, with the long-term aim of reducing obesity rates. Researchers involved with the evaluation of HENRY in Bradford are also working on a national evaluation of the intervention The evaluation of HENRY in Bradford is still in the planning stages, and will consider whether children of parents involved in the intervention were more likely than other children (whose families did not participate in the intervention) to be a healthy weight at age 5.
